Project Summary

Hawona Sullivan JanzenHamline-Midway Coalition is partnering with Midway resident and artist Hawona Sullivan Janzen on a Minnesota State Arts Board supported project to show the Midway some love. Sullivan Janzen is writing a crowd-sourced 100 line love poem for the Hamline-Midway neighborhood. Each one of the 100 lines will be printed onto its own lawn sign and hosted in people’s yards starting this fall.

In addition to the lawn signs, the project has also built and distributed six new Little Free Libraries throughout the neighborhood. This fall, these libraries will host loving keepsakes, each crafted by one of several local artists. Stay turned to HMC's Facebook page and this project page for more details coming soon.

Hawona Sullivan Janzen, in partnership with the Hamline-Midway Coalition, is a fiscal year 2020 recipient of a Cultural Community Partnership grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature; and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
