Hamline Midway Coalition – District Council 11
Hamline Midway Coalition (HMC) is an action-oriented, neighborhood-based organization that develops and supports resident-led initiatives in Community Building, Transportation, Economic Development, and general neighborhood improvement. HMC also coordinates participation in public policy decision making and provides high quality information to the community on matters of public interest.
HMC is dedicated to making the Hamline Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul a great place to live, learn, work, and play. Our service area is bounded by University Avenue on the south, Pierce Butler Route on the north, Transfer Road on the west, and Lexington Parkway on the east.
HMC Committees are made up of dedicated and engaged volunteers from the Hamline Midway neighborhood. They typically meet once a month and work on a broad array of issues including transportation, development, community building and more. Anyone can join a committee and all meetings are open to the public.
Our work spans a wide variety of areas that include land use and development, transportation, sustainability, community building, and improving the overall livability and vitality of the Hamline Midway neighborhood. We also offer support and resources to residents, businesses and organizations working to improve the neighborhood in any number of ways. Hamline Midway Coalition staff have broad experience in conceptualizing, developing and implementing a wide range of community-oriented projects and initiatives. We are happy to lend whatever expertise or support we can in helping you get your neighborhood-specific idea up and running. We serve as fiscal agent for many neighborhood groups and organizations, and have successfully helped many individuals and groups apply for grants and funding. Whether you are looking for assistance navigating city processes or are looking to be connected to the right decision-makers and resources, let us know your plans and we'll do what we can to help you succeed.
HMC engages the voice and power of the community to advance neighborhood identity, embrace community diversity, enhance neighborhood vitality, and develop neighborhood leadership. We represent the interests of the neighborhood on a broad range of public policy and city governance issues. From new building permits and zoning variances, to transportation and other infrastructure enhancement issues, we advise policy officials and decision makers on a wide variety of topics and issues. Every official recommendation to the city and other legislative bodies is the result of active citizen participation and deliberation on the part of our Board of Directors.
The Hamline Midway Coalition serves as an important source of information of interest to the neighborhood. We share stories and content via a wide range of platforms including this website, our monthly eNewsletter, Facebook, Twitter and e-Democracy forum. Also, look for updates on neighborhood happenings and other stories in our monthly column in the Monitor Newspaper. We remain active in other community discussion forums as well.
